This was an amazing and challenging project.... scrapbook paper pattern pieces kept collapsing, creasing, tearing... and honestly, couldn't figure out the puzzle of assembling.  When it finally clicked, I couldn't stop embellishing, coloring, etc...  ...vintage gold brocade.. ...lined with vintage rose fabric.. A deco is a little themed book (creater's choice) with a cover, several blank pages and a back cover telling by whom and for whom it was made.  Others sign up to do a page, hence the deco will travel the world to each signer who will add their art to their page.  When completed, it will be sent to the person it was made for.This one will go to Finland.

When asked for Fabric or Sewing related ATC's for a swap, thoughts head right for Vintage.  One can read the 'Singer Sewing' info on the first card. The second is pink/white striped chintz fabric  background topped with an ivory cotton heart, and some vintage daisy trim. A cast off piece of pine, slightly warped with ragged edges, left over from a home construction project becomes a vintage-style collage.  Although I'm extremely fond of using brown's in mixed media work, I thought the youth of the subject of this collage deserved some "Violacious Violet".  It's a fabulous, iridescent look, likely not very visible in this scan.  Trust me, it's Violacious!

This is a little wooden frame from the craft store. Mission: To make a be-jeweled frame with a vintage image, a frame fit for the queen herself. The postcard was a challenge called "Recycle". This is an advertisement from a local hair salon, glossy finish. I used the front to make a collage.

This is a wooden frame which now has umpteen layers of ink, scraps of sheet music, flowers, paint, stamped images, sprays, bits & bobs, stenciling, nature elements, wire and so on and so on. At the time of this scan, it has three final layers of sealer. By the time it is done, I would guess it will have at least eight.

Who knew?Not me... I didn't know that Walnut Ink (brrrrown ink) came in colors. I have been looking at these for some time now, couldn't think what 'colored' walnut ink would be like. So, let's see.. a pigmented liquid made from walnuts, a dye of sorts, an ink... brown. So, now brown ink comes in colors. I forgot how much I loved stamping on labels! Found this pic of a 4x6 made quite some time ago. Funny, it's so easy to stamp these up and then comes the tricky part... getting the labels off the sheet onto the cardstock.. not that fun, but I love a happy ending.

Making cards for friends sounds like a good idea... except if they are artists too... then it takes longer, is a little anxiety-provoking and sometimes never comes to pass. These were created for a swap on Art-E-Zine (my all-time favorite site for mixed media art). I cut them from mat board, then painted and crackled them.
